Risk Disclaimer
- Unlike traditional deposits, PPCDs are Structured Deposits and have an investment element and returns may vary. A PPCD is not a conventional deposit nor should it be treated as a substitute for normal time deposits. A PPCD is not an insured deposit for the purpose of the Deposit Insurance Act.
The principal amount placed is protected only if held to Maturity Date. In the event of a request for early withdrawal or cancellation, the cost of this premature liquidation may be substantial and can only be determined at the actual time of liquidation and this could result in a potential loss of principal.
The return on a PPCD is determined by reference to movements in the specified currency exchange rates. A wide range of factors, including national and international financial and economic conditions and political and natural events, affects currency exchange rates. The effect of normal market forces may at times be discounted by interventions of central banks and other bodies including foreign exchange controls being imposed. At times, the exchange rates and prices linked to such rates may rise or fall sharply.
